AgriInnotave
  • Program Website
  • Program Objectives
    • The program provides repayable contributions to incent targeted commercialization, demonstration and/or adoption of commercial-ready innovative technologies and processes that increase agricultural and agri-food sector competitiveness and sustainability benefits.
  • Funding
    • The maximum Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) contribution toward a project will normally not exceed $5,000,000.

Agricultural Clean Technology Program
  • Program Website
  • Program Objectives
    • As part of the Government of Canada’s strengthened climate plan, A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy, the new Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector.
    • Research and Innovation Stream
      • The Research and Innovation Stream will support pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities, to develop transformative clean technologies and enable the expansion of current technologies, in 3 priority areas:
        • Green energy and energy efficiency
        • Precision agriculture
        • Bioeconomy

Eligible activities under the Research and Innovation Stream are of the following nature and type:

        • Applied research and development of clean technologies
        • Piloting and evaluating clean technologies
        • Demonstration and knowledge and technology transfer activities
        • Commercializing and scaling up clean technologies
        • Other activities that support the Research and Innovation Stream as determined by the program
  • Funding
    • Support is available in the form of repayable and non-repayable contributions from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program
  • Program Website
  • Program Objectives
    • The program will:
      • help the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector (‘agricultural sector’) take advantage of a situation or circumstance to develop a new idea, product, niche, or market opportunity
      • respond to new and emerging issues (address sector issues that were unknown or not a concern before)
      • find and test solutions to new and ongoing issues to adapt and remain competitive
  • Funding
    • The maximum Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) contribution for a project will normally not exceed $1 million. You can apply for and receive funding for more than one project, but generally speaking, funding will not be more than $5 million over 5 years for each applicant.

If approved, support is available in the form of repayable and non-repayable contributions.

AgriFood and Biodiversity (AlbertaInnovates)
  • Program Website
  • Program Objectives
    • The Agri-food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program aims to support the development of technologies that provide solutions to the challenges faced by the agri-food and bioindustrial sectors in Alberta.
    • The objectives of the Agri-Food and Bioindustrial Innovation Program are to:
      • Sustain, grow, and optimize productivity, while reducing the cost of production of Alberta’s agri-food and bioindustrial industries.
      • Add value to enhanced and new commodities in the agri-food and bioindustrial sectors.
      • Increase environmental sustainability and social benefits for Albertans.
  • Funding
    • Successful applications can receive up to $500,000 in funding per project. We will only cover up to 75 per cent of total project costs. The rest (cash or in-kind) must come from the applicant, project partners or other funding agencies. We encourage co-funding with other agencies, with no limits on stacking contributions from other sources.
